What is SBC ?
 SBC is an international event organized by IEEE where more than 400 young engineering students and young professionals from more than 350 universities of Europe, Middle East and Africa meet together to discuss present and future engineering challenges, network and learn more about the IEEE.The purpose of this event is to help engineering students, PhD. students and young professionals gain further insight, enabling exchange of knowledge and skills. The plenary sessions and workshops in this congress will not only put their focus on research and technological developments, but also career issues and the importance of developing the so-called soft skills.By offering an interesting mix of speeches given by academical and industrial speakers, we want to give our participants a broad pallet in which both academical and industrial input is implemented in the debates. In this way, the event offers a unique opportunity to represent the vision of industrial speakers.This congress is an ideal opportunity to get in touch with tomorrow’s engineers. Furthermore, it gives a platform to the companies to gain international reputation towards the new generation of engineers and IEEE in general.
Previous editions of this congress were held: Leuven (‘10); Londres (‘08); Paris(‘06); Passau(‘04); Cairo (‘02); Eindhoven (‘00); Istanbul (‘98)
Who is organizing it ?
The 2012 edition of the Student Branch and GOLD Congress will be hosted by various Madrid IEEE Student Branches, in Madrid, Spain.
They are all working to make sure all attendants will have an amazing and fulfilling experience!

Biannually, the student activities committee of IEEE Region 8 organizes a Student Branch and GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) Congress, where around 300 IEEE student branches members, gold members and young engineering professionals from all over Region 8 (Europe, Asia and Africa) meet. Traditionally, this event is a melting pot of a variety of cultures and backgrounds, the perfect opportunity to share technical, social and professional experiences.
Previous editions of this congress were held in Istanbul ('98), Eindhoven ('00), Cairo ('02), Passau ('04), Paris ('06) and London ('08) as one of the biggest events in the world for young engineering professionals and students all aged less than 28 years. Region 8 Student Services encourages and supports local student branches to develop these activities, but also provides opportunities for the students branches to collaborate on bigger scale and exchange experience.
The 2010 edition of the Student Branch and GOLD Congress will be hosted by the IEEE Student Branch Leuven, in Leuven, Belgium. Mark August 4-8 2010 in your calendars, as organization is well advanced to ensure that all participants will have an amazing and pleasant experience!
